Originally, Lumi Chocolate was a small home-based business selling handcrafted artisan chocolates, with a strong focus on sustainability, ethically sourced cocoa, and biodegradable packaging. It ran from 2022–2026, during which time it received some fantastic press and built a loyal customer base. Sadly, due to the ever-increasing price of cocoa, I decided to close the chocolate side of the business at the start of 2026 — perhaps not forever, but certainly for the foreseeable future.

A few years ago, I began making ceramics as a hobby, and what started as a creative outlet quickly became a real passion. I began selling my pieces through the website and was delighted to discover there was a demand for the small-batch ceramics I was making by hand. In 2025, my work was also featured in the Christmas Gift Guide in The Guardian magazine.

Each piece is made in small batches with an emphasis on simplicity, warmth, and everyday use — objects designed to be picked up daily, not saved for special occasions. No two pieces are exactly alike, and that individuality is part of what makes handmade ceramics so appealing.

Prior to Lumi, I worked for many years as a pastry chef before moving into freelance recipe development and food writing after having children. I originally founded Lumi as a way to build a creative business that could work flexibly around family life from home.

Although Lumi no longer produces chocolate, the creative ethos behind the business remains the same: thoughtful, handcrafted work made in small batches with care and attention to detail.
